What makes a good commercial airline pilot?

Well, if my husband is any indication - I think I already know the answer. However, NPR’s Talk of the Nation today had an entire feature on that question with pilot/author, John Nance and Anthony Wald, aviation reporter for the New York Times.

Talk of the Nation, March 3, 2009 · In January, pilot Chesley Sullenberger landed a US Airways flight safely on the Hudson River after a flock of birds disabled both engines. Everyone onboard survived.

Since then, he has raised questions about the quality of training and support available to newer pilots.
