    Breast Cancer: Avon Foundation Breast Center at Johns Hopkins

    I’ve been getting the Artemis newsletter on breast cancer topics and issues from Johns Hopkins for several years now, and have found it to be a highly educational, accurate and reliable source of information for women wishing to be aware of breast cancer, patients and survivors.

    I also noticed a new resource this morning on their site, Johns Hopkins Patients’ Guide to Breast Cancer, now out in paperback on Amazon.com for $9.99.

    Notice on the Look Inside feature, page 3, Selecting Your Surgical Oncology Team. This is the very thing that I harp on constantly. As a breast cancer patient you need not a surgeon who does breast surgery occasionally, or a plastic surgeon who does breast cancer surgery in between breast augmentation surgeries. You need a surgical oncologist who only does breast cancer related surgery. This is a huge piece of the puzzle that is missing all too often from the treatment plan. It can mean all the difference between success and a recurrence!
