The very best pictures of the inauguration

I usually don’t like to direct my readers away from the maven&meddler, but you must see these 48 amazing pictures- from all over the world - of the inauguration … large, as they are on the website I saw them - on boston.com.

On January 20th, 2009, Barack H. Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America - the first African-American ever to hold the office of U.S. Commander-in-Chief. The event was witnessed by well over one million attendees in chilly Washington D.C., and by many millions more through coverage on television and the Internet. Collected here are photographs of the event, the participants, and some of the witnesses around the world.

A Wonderful Photo Almost Lost. Thanks, Peggy.

I had forgotten how happy I’d been when this picture was taken, in fact I’d ‘lost’ the picture but Peg still had it deep in her archives.

Bob Spielman, aviator, commercial airline captain retired, and record setting glider pilot had just taken me up in one of his little gliders up in Palomino Valley.

I love gliding and love Bob. What a great day that was. In light of current not so nice events, thanks Peg for sending this photograph. I had also forgotten that I could smile like that.
