NOTE: follow-up on Washoe County Ballot Initiative #3 needs your support

Please, folks - if you voted for this Ballot Initiative then try to show up at the hearing to show that you really meant it. You don’t have to speak, just be there and look pretty for the cameras.

Excerpted from an email from PLAN (Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada ) head honcho, Bob Fulkerson:

On November 4, 2008 Washoe County voters approved a ballot initiative requiring the Truckee Meadows Regional Plan be based upon and in balance with identified and sustainable water resources. The intent of the question is to require that the regional plan not outpace identified and sustainable water resources capable of being used to support development within the region. The ballot initiative, Washoe County Question #3 or WC#3, received overwhelming support from Washoe County voters – 73.11 percent of the voters (121,555) said yes to WC#3. ( my bold face emphasis )

AB 119, sponsored by Assemblywoman Sheila Leslie, will memorialize

WC-3 and ensure that the Regional Plan is required by state law to tie land-use planning to known water resources.

Please attend the hearing at 9 a.m. Monday, March 16, Assembly Government Affairs Committee, Room 3143.

You don’t have to speak. We just need to fill the room since the Builder’s Association (surprise!) has already come out against the bill.

We have had extensive and fruitful negotiating sessions with the local government and regional planners over AB 119, and it appears we are all on the same page. For more information, please continue reading below.

Thank you very much for all you have done to protect our water and land. Please do one more thing and attend this hearing!!

    Thanks again!
