Karl Rove stole the White House for George Bush in 2000 by getting 5 Republicans on the Supreme Court to throw out 175,000 votes and appoint Bush. He stole Congress for Republicans in 2002 by forcing a divisive vote for invading Iraq based on his WMD lies. He stole the White House for Bush again in 2004 through phony terror alerts and the Swift Boat smears against war hero John Kerry.
And now he’s at it again. He turned FOX News into a 24x7x365 Republican political machine, and even appears on FOX to smear President Obama personally. He set up a criminal secret slush fund to take millions from billionaires and corporations and spend it all smearing Democrats. (We are urging Attorney General Eric Holder to investigate and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.) He vigorously defends other corporate slush funds like the Chamber of Commerce.
But we can beat Karl Rove in November, just as we did in 2006 and 2008. Here’s what we must do, starting immediately:
In many states, early voting has begun so you don’t have to wait for Election Day. After you vote, you can zap political ads, throw out political mail, and spend your free time telling friends and strangers to vote straight Democratic. This will be good for America, good for your mental health, and good for your soul.
If the outright lies and complete fabrications aren’t bad enough on the American Crossroads GPS ads supporting Sharron Angle, there’s an even worse side to it all.
Get rid of Harry Reid, get Sharron Angle the puppet in, and let loose the hounds of foreign corporations and dangerous nations on our government. This is simply the most outrageous and dire threat to our national security ever.
How? The Citizens United v FEC decision by the conservative activists on the Supreme Court. They enabled foreign corporations - such as the Saudi oil princes, and foreign governments like Iran to spend unlimited money to influence our elections. This very well could be what’s really at work as Karl Rove and his American Crossroads GPS funnels record amounts of money into campaigns like the Reid/Angle campaign.
According to SourceWatch:
“Although originally founded under the 527 section of the tax code, which permits American Crossroads to collect unlimited campaign contributions as long as it periodically reports its donors to the IRS, it has since formed a spinoff group, Crossroads Grassroots Policy Strategies (or Crossroads GPS), which is organized as a nonprofit 501(c)4 organization and thus freed from donor disclosure requirements.”
The Citizens United decision is allowing foreign interests to launder millions - thanks to their friends in the U. S. Chamber of Commerce - to influence politics in America. The U. S. Chamber is pumping millions from foreign interests into mostly Republican campaigns, according to a report in the Miami Herald.
“It’s time the Chamber of Commerce answered a very basic question: Since when do they believe that large undisclosed corporate interests and companies in China, Russia and the Middle East should help choose America’s leaders?” he asked. “Our country was founded on the belief that the American people - and no one else - should have the right to decide our country’s future.” Tim Kaine, Democratic National Committee Chairman.
A vote for Sharron Angle is a vote for foreign interests to keep us dependant on their oil and fighting their wars. It’s a vote to keep Karl Rove and the U. S. Chamber of Commerce in place as a shadow government - and the best argument for campaign finance reform and the DISCLOSE Act immaginable.
This election between Reid and Angle is not about the crazy claims of illegal aliens or jobs or foreclosures - as Angle’s Karl Rove designed campaign would have you believe.
The bizarre claims made by Karl Rove and the American Crossroads GPS group that he heads - which seems to run most of Sharron Angle’s television campaign - are so obviously false. FactCheck.org - a non partisan group - has stated :
“Republican challenger Sharron Angle falsely claims Sen. Harry Reid voted to give “special tax breaks to illegal aliens.” He did nothing of the kind. In fact, Reid sponsored an amendment to the comprehensive immigration bill in 2007 that made it clear that illegal immigrants remain ineligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit for low-income workers.”
Notice that the ads don’t stop. They don’t change. They don’t even seem to care that they’ve been caught out? This is because they have been cynically created to appeal to the worst - yet unfounded - fears of the least well informed, most easily influenced part of the electorate.
Her claims of Reid voting to give ‘tax breaks’ to illegal aliens is referring to the Earned Income Tax Credit which already existed to benefit low-income American citizens. Reid’s votes on 2006 and 2007 immigration bills simply said that IF the illegals became American citizens, they might be eligible for the EITC, since those two bills provided a pathway for illegals to step up, do the right thing by declaring themselves and taking the right steps toward legal citizenship. This was in response to a knotheaded proposal - or punishment - from Jeff Sessions, R-AL, that would have barred former illegals who became legal citizens from ever qualifying for the EITC.
Gawd! Let’s punish folks for doing the right thing. That makes sense.
Then John Ensign, R-NV, not wanting to be left out, proposed that former illegals couldn’t get tax refunds or re-file to get those benefits. Thanks for waking up, John.
But then it gets dumber still:
“Angle’s ad also charges that Reid voted “to give illegals Social Security benefits.” That’s false.
Yes, Reid voted against Ensign amendments in 2006 and 2007 that would have barred someone living here legally from receiving Social Security credits for work done while that person was living in the country illegally. The key phrase in that sentence is living herelegally. Reid did not propose giving Social Security to illegal immigrants until and unless they are living here legally and have paid into the system long enough to become eligible for benefits.”
FactCheck.org goes on to point out that Reid - for his part - rips Angle for her supposedly retracted stance to privatize Social Security and Medicare. FactCheck.org is giving Angle an underserved ‘pass’ that her recent politically correct claims that she’s not reallygoing to trash either Social Security or Medicare might actually be true or sincere.
Those of us who’ve followed the dirty trail of her websites know perfectly well that she would get rid of both. This being so, the Reid campaign if perfectly justified for calling her out on it.
Additionally, she has a deep and abiding fear that a raped teenager might not want to keep an incestuous baby … making a “lemon situation into lemonaide.”
She also stays up at night worrying that rich insurance companies - that hold all the cards - might be forced to extend mammograms and other cancer screening to insured patients. She apparently doesn’t spend much time considering how much actual cancer costs the country.
But mammograms, Social Security and Medicare, and illegal aliens aside, for Sharron Angle to win amounts to dollars in the pockets of some of the most evil, dangerous, anti-American entities on the planet … foreign corporations and foreign governments like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran, Hu Jintao of China, and King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia.
So, you have to wonder just who Sharron Angle and her puppet master, Karl Rove, really work for.
Until Karl Rove’s American Crossroads GPS quits speaking for Sharron Angle- and Angle actually steps out of the carefully protected shadows of her handlers - I think I already know.

If you find foreign corporations, foreign governments and unlimited amounts of shadowy money going into American political campaigns as outrageously wrong as I do, then please contact your senators to support the DISCLOSE amendment today!
We were appalled by the ‘performance’ Rove put on in this showdown on ABC’s ‘This Week’ between himself and Obama strategist David Plouffe. Unfortunately, host Jon Karl laid down and let Rove control the entire debate.
Now, even the most die-hard believer in the so-called ‘liberal media’ bias ought to have got a clue.
ABC ain’t no liberal media. The ‘no liberal bias’ was just as apparent on the other two networks’ Sunday morning shows.
The saddest part of this? That the Democrats don’t want their own attack dog. Howard Dean could have fought back, but Plouffe - who is nobody’s dummy - chose to continue the ‘no drama’ thing that just ain’t working.
Rove still proves that he’s the best when it comes to being a lying, slanderous, attack dog in a fight. Throwing the name of Bernie Maddof in and linking it with the number crunching at the CBO was a brilliant manuever - although the non-partisan CBO may not appreciate it much.
BTW: Aren’t the Republicans good at fighting for CBO numbers when it comes to spending, but not so much when it comes to CBO numbers on savings?
If your Monday is an indicator of the rest of the week, this should be a disaster. Nothing went right. If I could lose it, I did. If I could miss it, I did. It was so nearly a giant CF. The good news is that the rest of the day went reasonably well.
Things got off to a badish start last night. I’d taken a month long ‘rest’ from my chemo-suppressant, Arimidex. It was time buck-up and start taking it again. The side effects make you wonder if the cure isn’t worse than the disease. But since the disease, breast cancer, is probably worse - a Stage IV recurrence isn’t curable at all - that I have to find a way to manage the freakin’ side effects. But, I understand why so many women opt to go off of it and take their chances.
Sigh. Vanity, thy name is woman. I want hair. Hair that actually grows. Hair that isn’t thinning and falling out. Of course, leaving the extreme heartburn, joint pain and water retention behind would be cool, too.
This brought to mind the conversations Mr. Maven and I have been having about the cost of our prescriptions now.
Just what do we have to do to get rid of the stench of Karl Rove, the ‘vampire operative that will not die’? I had a dog get sprayed by a skunk years ago, and then run straight through the house. It took weeks and lots of chemicals to rid the house and dog of the putrid stench. This one is likely to go on for awhile longer.
I’ve been waiting for the last four years to hear the upshot of the U.S. attorney firings. Now, it seems that Rep. John Conyers, (D-Mich) has the goods on the fat weasel.
I’ll bet Rush Limbaugh and Karl Rove are crying in their beer today over the diplomatic fait d’ accompli by Secretary of State Hilliary Clinton and the Obama administration in the pending release of Iranian-American journalist, Roxana Saberi.
After all, Rush told us all that he wishes failure for the Obama administration,
