    Gapminder: 200 Countries, 200 Years, 4 Minutes

This graphical representation of statistics related to the economic and societal growth of the world is stunning. Even better, go to Hans Roslings amazing website: Gapminder.org. Here you can mine data and statistics worldwide, to make real world comparisons regarding health, economics, income distribution and so much more …. I’ve bookmarked this. It’s just that good. The new software this guy has come up with is simply a thing of beauty.

Oh, and you can add Gapminder to your desktop and do your own charting easily. Don’t want to chart/graph the world and its’ nations? Try Gapminder USA. Oh, this is sweet. Very Sweet.

    Thanks to Alert Reader, Peg.

    Yes, statistics can be fun.

You’ve never seen data presented like this. With the drama and urgency of a sportscaster, statistics guru Hans Rosling debunks myths about the so-called “developing world.”

TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world’s leading thinkers and doers are invited to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes — including speakers such as Jill Bolte Taylor, Sir Ken Robinson, Hans Rosling, Al Gore and Arthur Benjamin. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, and Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, politics and the arts. Watch the Top 10 TEDTalks on TED.com, at

Note from Maven: Regarding the debate over jobs and health care reform here in the United States, I suggest you watch the TED lecture - into about 13:00 minutes. He clearly demonstrates that you must start with health, then wealth to really succeed as a society or economy.
