    Keep the petition going on Supreme Court decision

    I hope everybody that sees this will consider signing, and pass it along.

    From Robert Weissman at Public Citizen:

    Outside, Washington, D.C. is smothered in near-record amounts of snow. But inside - inside the halls of government, to be specific - things are heating up.

    What sparked the fire?

    The Supreme Court ruled last month that corporations can spend unlimited amounts of money in our elections.

    I’m asking you to do two things right now to join the fight to defend our democracy from a corporate takeover:

    1. Sign our petition at DontGetRolled.org for a constitutional amendment to counteract this radical ruling.

    Overwhelming democracy while battling for competitive edge

    Many years ago, I was visiting the Mexican city of Oaxaca, and while on a tour out to the pyramids there, encountered the usual gauntlet of poor children. It was like being mobbed, and all I could see was blur of faces and grasping hands, all looking for a Peso, or better yet a Dollar. What would the harm be in giving these dozen or so kids a few bucks? This is the very definition of ‘slippery slope’, because the obvious question is “where will it end?” If I had given out the money, a dozen more would have appeared instantly.

    This sort of mob driven giveaway is unsustainable. And so it is with corporate lobbyists.
