Here's why you'll get a reminder in your email from me

This was in my email today - in response to my whining about recently low numbers of visitors to blog :

    Subject: No reminders

Message: I was just commenting to Don this a.m. that I hadn’t visited your blog lately because I’d been busy and hadn’t gotten any of your usual email reminders … what’s the deal?  You know the proles have to be prodded or we’ll get distracted by things like eating and watching TV.

The quality is still there, you just need to keep reminding folks that they need to get off their butts and look for it.

    Love and kisses.

So, I guess I will start sending out the reminders that I’d assumed would just be an annoyance - clogging up the inboxes of others.

    Thanks for the kick, Peg.

    Maven&meddler celebrates a first anniversary

I wasn’t sure what would happen last August when I created this blog. I’d previously had a brief fling with another blog, and that was a good thing … meaning that it was short-lived. I think exactly six people read it.

Friends who regularly read blogs gave me their best advice on why they read certain blogs, and not others. I read a lot of blogs and read a lot of books on blogs.

One of the goals I set for myself was to have 1,000 readers a month by the end of my first year. I had serious doubts up until a month ago, and then whoosh! the maven&meddler went over that magic number. I’m still not sure why.

A new look for the mavenandmeddler?

Yes, it might seem like I’m one of those women who must rearrange the furniture every six months, but oh, so not true, Keemo Sabe.

Actually, I rather like things to stay just the way they are, but the old template wasn’t working for me. Too cluttered. It lacked some design elements that I learned might be important to the overall functioning the of the site, and that is the important thing.

If anybody notices any bugs or strange things, let me know. Otherwise, we’ll see how this works for a few months.

One of these days, I’ll have enough money for a real web designer ( Kristy! ) to make one just for me … that’s just perfect.
