Today, on my task list, was to finally call a carpet cleaner. I’ve got an aging Jack Russell Terrier who pees on the carpet. Natacha says she has ‘doggie dementia’. Could be.

I’ve been putting it off, using one of those little spot cleaners but even that wasn’t up to the task, and there were just some old spots that had been there predating the dog. I didn’t believe they’d ever come out.

I was wrong.

Based on what I could quickly find on carpet cleaners in Angie’s List Reno, I called ABL Cleaning Services, and spoke to the owner operator, Steve Squire. He and his wife were in the middle of cleaning some upholstery up in Spanish Springs, and could work us in (south suburban Reno) before his next appointment.

Yelp! Ouch that hurts.

Recently, I’ve been hearing from some doctors in the area about bad ‘reviews’ left on the internet and what it takes - in time and resources - to try and straighten it out after the fact. A cardiologist that I know told me that his practice spent nearly $5,000 trying to get unreasonable ‘reviews’ off of the internet. I couldn’t believe it had anything to do with Angie’s List - they’re so careful and vet customer comments so carefully, so I took a look at Yelp.

There’s a great way to find out, as people all across the country can attest to, it’s simply to look on Angie’s List. I just got off the phone with a really nice lady, Phyllis, who is a neighborhood specialist for Reno. I was able to relate some recent experiences with doctors and surgeons here in Reno, and they will go into the Angie’s List database, after being fact checked and verified.

Here's your best tip on a new dentist

My dentist of many years, Dr. Pat France, has moved recently from his old digs Arlington and Plumas to new offices at 3631 Warren Way, Reno.

Painless Pat as I’ve called him for years, is a wonderful dentist, fine human being and a good friend. Hey, he did get me over my longstanding fear of dental work. I’d let him do anything now and not even give it a second thought. Even better, his office staff on longtime employees are warm and genuinely helpful and friendly. They are not the ‘gatekeepers’ you’ll find in other medical offices. Mary, Dr. Pats’ scheduler is a real sweetie.

In addition to myself, he has treated many friends and family members that I have referred to him …. and they are still with him years later.
