How Chuck Muth get's to the 'truth' might surprise you

I was noodling around, and found this interesting article on NPR about an unfortunate woman -Tera Burbank - and her family in the Las Vegas area - a victim of the recession story. It was a real heart tug. I sat here in my nice home, paid for, with plenty of everything I need for happiness, and there are those much less fortunate out there struggling for every last little thing.

As I read, it was obvious that the woman, Tera Burbank - on her own since the age of 14 - is one of life’s eternally ‘less fortunate’. They make sub-optimal choices, sometimes repeatedly. I know I’ve made some colossally stupid choices in the past, but somehow I lucked out. They didn’t stick. For Tera Burbank, it seems that they did. Yup.

Sometimes, if they could get just a little break, they become late bloomers. Education certainly helps, but that’s become outrageously expensive, especially here in Nevada. When you toss in children, car and mortgage payments that were, perhaps, injudicious … well, the momentum can defy any reasonable attempt by an individual to ‘drag themselves up by their bootstraps’ not to mention tidy up the house, hang drapes and decorate, go to school, get a job during 14.5% unemployment and all the other things some folks might suggest they do.

Many of us would look at Tera Burbank’s story and thing “there but for the grace of god go I.” For us atheists, it goes a bit differently “holy shit, that could’ve been me.” But then there are the assholes of the world. Most of whom are of the right-wing ilk. You’ll find them referred to as “self-righteous” or “holier-than-thou”.

Like Chuck Muth. You’d think, with a name like that, he’d try to be nicer. He writes Muth’s Truths when he isn’t ‘coaching’ right-wing political candidates or engaging in speechifying the easily fooled.

You must read ‘Tera Burbank: The Real, Untold Story’. It’s sorta, kinda like the Geraldo Rivera version. ‘What’s in Al Capone’s’ nee Tera Burbank’s Safe? Uh? Nothing! In Muth’s case, it’s just cheap shots, taken out of context.

Mr. Muth thinks Ms. Burbank is an atrocious house-keeper. He really seems to go on about that. And, she has the audacity to have a cell-phone (possibly a ‘fancy’ one) and a laptop computer. Hmmm. That certainly is suspicious. Sounds rather like a ‘student’, which she is.

Sort of reminds me of me, back in the day, living in a run-down ‘mo-bil home’ in a run-down ‘white trash’ trailer park in a run-down central Missouri one stop-light town with a doper hillbilly husband that was beating me up on Friday nights. I didn’t have much inspiration to tidy and decorate either. I was too busy nursing a black eye before I had to go in to work. I was ‘white trash’.

As I said, some of us are ‘late bloomers’.

Oh, and she is uppity. Shops in Smith’s rather than the local bargain dented can store. How dare she? Even worse, she reads the newspaper and seems to be rather articulate for somebody who left home at age 14. Rather than applaud this, Mr. Muth finds it to be a appalling evidence of her lefty liberal activist leanings. Oh, my.

Yes, he calls Tera Burbank “white trash

She might be. Yes, Tera just might be my kind of white trash. The kind worth lending a hand to. No matter what the delusional Mr. Muth seems to think Charlie Sheen was channeling to Ms. Burbank. Naw, he just had to work that in despite its obvious irrelevance, along with the Sarah Palin thing to be ‘timely’ and get more ‘hits’ for his blog.

“Holy shit, that could’ve been me.”

It could be any one of us.

Amazing how critically judgemental these church going right wing nuts are. They seem to have an opinion, one based on very shallow criteria, about everyone. Reminds me of Angle and her campaign. She seemed to have an opinion for everyone on how they should handle themselves.... make lemonade if raped... and Louden telling us to bring a chicken to our physician's office in exchange for medical care.

2012 is gonna be fun and entertaining. Angle will be all over Ensign's vacant seat.
