Peg's Ham and Eggs: South Reno edition
Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 12:58 We had been avoiding trying the new addition to the Peg’s Ham and Eggs success story for some time now, not because we didn’t lack for dining choices down in this end of town, but because we didn’t like some aspects of the uptown versions of Pegs.
If there could be a noisier and more hectic feeling place to get a bite to eat, we haven’t found it yet. Peg’s downtown location on Sierra Street, and the newer northwest location on Mae Anne Drive, both do a thriving business. Good for their bottom line, but not for customers who want a relaxing meal in surroundings that don’t make you feel like you’re in an airline terminal on Thanksgiving eve.

We’re diners looking more for quality over quantity - a ‘less is more’ approach, which also flys in the face of conventional wisdom at places like Peg’s. An enormous ‘skillet’ of too many eggs, an enormous slab of hash browns, greasy meat and more don’t appeal to us. So we patronize those restaurants that don’t mind scaling down their menu offerings to less than wheelbarrow size.
