Truckee River Bar & Grill: They're back!
Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 14:56 We’ve been anxiously waiting to see what would happen, there was sign in the window saying that it would re-open at some point. Then Mr. Maven told me last night that Saturday was their Grand Re-Opening.
It was deja vu all over again. Right down to the waitstaff. Nancy and Linda were there - refugees from a sad, brief stint at Jack’s on Kietzke at Franktown Corners. They also brought another waitress from Jack’s with them.
The menu is pretty much the same - which is a good thing - with some small changes. Now, there will be four different soups, according to the day of the week, with a daily soup de jour wild card. Today, I had my favorite half veggie sandwich (the #3) with a cup of Tuscan Vegetable. Yum. The Tuscan Vegetable is loads of fresh veggies in a light broth, with just enough ‘heat’ to make it interesting.
Mr. Maven had a meatloaf sandwich that was really, really good. A thin slice of yummy meatloaf was set on crisp lettuce with ripe tomato and mayo, but the bread is what set this apart. It was a sort of grilled, crunchy parmesan crusted bread that raised the bar on the YUM factor. I told Mr. Maven that I’d happily split that sandwich with him anytime.
You can stil get all your favorite TRBG sandwiches of old, in addition to a comprehensive breakfast and dinner menu. There have also been some long overdue changes made to the interior - new carpet, paint, and tablesettings. It looks a lot fresher and crisper.
The new owner - like TRBG owners of old (Kraig) - is from Marie Callendars. This bodes well for long term survival.
The hours are a bit fluid right now, until they can better guage traffic. Breakfast is still being served daily, starting at 6:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Monday through Thursday, until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, the 7:30 a.m. til 11:00 on Saturday, and 8:00 til 3:00 on Sunday. Lunch/Dinner hours during the week are anticipated to stretch until 9:00 p.m. but could change.
Address: 3466 Lakeside Drive, corner of Moana and Lakeside, a couple doors down from Bens Wine and Liquor on the Lakeside side.
They accept credit cards, casual, kid friendly, full bar, limited outdoor seating, wheelchair accessible with close handicapped parking.
