Herbamare is simply incredible alternative to salt

This sea salt blend is going to liven up your everday cooking, and have others asking what your secret ingredient is.

It’s just Herbamare - a standard over in Europe. Crafted in France, by the A. Vogel company, it is a brilliant blend of celery, leek, watercress, onions, chives, parsley, lovage, garlic, basil, marjoram, rosemary, thyme, and kelp, all organically grown.

According to the maker,”Like all of the A.Vogel products, the raw ingredients are literally used immediately after harvesting: vegetables are brought in from the fields and finely chopped, mixed with real sea salt and allowed to marinate: the mixture is then dried under vacuum. This process brings out the flavour of the vegetables, yielding a truly fresh condiment with a superior flavour.”

We’re really cutting down on sodium around Kitchen Maven, but this is a great way of adding salt, but with a real depth of flavor that I’ve just never gotten from any other ‘salt blend’. As I said in a recent post about cooking whole grains in my Cuisinart Electronic Pressure Cooker, the wheat berries and brown rice came out tasting so yummy with just this as seasoning, with a few tablespoons of oil, that I was amazed. They didn’t ‘need’ anything else to be delicious.

Now, Herbamare isn’t truly low-sodium, but the label says 15% sodium - uh, as opposed to 100% sodium of regular salt. And this offers so much more in the way of flavor! However, you still have to exercise some caution as with any salt.

I’m really interested in trying their other Herbamare blends: Ocean, Bombay, Provencale, Spicy and Italian. I bought the 4.4 ounce shaker at Whole Foods. It’s available online and at other specialty grocers, I’m sure.
